Conflation of Space (Housing Next to Construction). Archive Studies on Postcolonial Nigeria

This lecture explores the role archives can play in postcolonial research today, and what these archives transmit. Drawing on private collections, photographs, and documentary materials on postcolonial Nigeria connected to global archives, the research offers a perspective on infrastructural projects not merely as technical or structural systems, but also as vessels of history, violence, communities, and cultural negotiation. Tracing frictions between space, memory, and mobility, the focus lies on postcolonial perspectives, visual culture, and the political dimension of objects, images, and built environments.
