Über die Rolle von Frauen und Kindern im frühen Mittelalter ist wenig bekannt. Bioarchäologische Analysen liefern neue Einblicke. In oberösterreichischen Gräbern des 8. bis 10. Jahrhunderts finden sich etwa immer häufiger Kinder.
