This talk revisits transformative concepts of the sixties regarding new media, urban renewal, psychedelic art, and cybernetics from the vantage point of postcolonial critique. It situates this constellation in the writings of South African artist Selby Mvusi, specifically in papers he worked on for an international design congress in Vienna 1965 and FESMAN in Dakar 1966.

In a highly medicalized and technologically led birth culture driven by capitalist logics of health care management, birth care can often become violent or be experienced as such.

This lecture addresses the issue of genocide in Algeria, as discussed in recent scientific research and by the Algerian people and authorities. It aims to demonstrate how this subject haunts France’s colonial history in Algeria, and how it is currently perceived and discussed locally. The notion of a »continuous spectre of genocide« highlights both the ongoing threat of extermination and the variations in its manifestations.
